Rubanda road accident claims Motorist’s life.
Police in Rubanda district have registered a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a 33 year old man.
The deceased has been identified as Michael Mpakaniye, a boda boda rider and resident of Gahunga village, Nyakabungo parish, Chahi sub-county, Kisoro district.
The accident occurred on September 27, 2024 at about 14:30 hours in Kyimusa “B” village Ihanga parish Bubaare sub-county Rubanda district, along Kabale-Kisoro highway.
It’s alleged that the deceased who was riding a Bajaj boxer red in color motorcycle registration number UEX266G traveling from Kisoro to Kabale recklessly left his lane and collided with Isuzu Elf truck registration number UBH310C that was traveling from Kabale towards Kisoro.
The accident left the rider dead on spot and the truck driver only identified as “Deacon” got injured after the vehicle overturned.
The rest of the passengers on the truck escaped unhurt.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the accident and revealed that the scene was visited and documented by police.
Both the truck and motorcycle were towed to Rubanda Central Police Station parking yard pending inspection.
Maate indicated that police Inquiries are already at hand to establish the clear cause of the accident.
