Rukungiri Health Centre IV HUMC Sworn In for New Three-Year Term

Rukungiri: The newly appointed Rukungiri Health Centre IV Health Unit Management Committee (HUMC) has officially been sworn in to begin a new three-year term.

The swearing-in ceremony was held on June 30, at the health facility premises in Rukungiri Municipality.

The newly sworn-in committee is chaired by Edward Ahimbisibwe. The Officer-in-Charge of Rukungiri Health Centre IV, Dr. Maureen Atwikirize, serves as the committee secretary. Other committee members are Hope Twikyirize, Alice Kasisi Babihunga, and Paul Bwamafa.

Also on the committee are youth representative Bruce Tumusiime, staff representative Peace Ankunda, and nurses’ representative Provia Kyobutungi.

The committee also has two ex-officio members: Rukungiri Municipal Principal Health Officer Dr. Davis Ahabwe and Deputy Town Clerk Justus Ampeire.

Speaking to our reporter after the swearing-in ceremony, Dr. Maureen Atwikirize said the committee’s main roles include participating in planning health centre activities, setting priorities based on community health needs, monitoring the use of health centre funds, promoting transparency and accountability in financial management, ensuring quality healthcare services, monitoring staff performance, attendance and patient satisfaction, acting as a link between the community and the health facility, and helping resolve disputes involving health workers, patients and the community, among other responsibilities.

Deputy Town Clerk Justus Ampeire reminded the committee members that their work is voluntary and does not attract a salary. He encouraged them to serve with honesty, commitment and dedication for the benefit of the community.

Rukungiri Municipal Principal Health Officer Dr. Davis Ahabwe thanked the health workers for their dedication, saying the facility is receiving an increasing number of patients because of the quality services it offers. He added that the municipality is lobbying for the expansion of the health centre to accommodate the growing number of people seeking healthcare services.

Committee Chairperson Edward Ahimbisibwe, who begins his second term in office, said that during their previous term they helped the health facility acquire a land title, fenced the facility and improved staff welfare, among other achievements. He pledged to continue working with commitment to improve service delivery during the new term.

The Deputy Mayor of Rukungiri Municipality, Makka-Sulait Turyamureba, represented the Mayor, Boaz Kansiime Matita, at the swearing-in ceremony.
