Rukungiri Police concerned with mushrooming cases of Live stock theft.

Rukungiri: Police in Rukungiri district have raised concern over the increasing cases of livestock theft in the district.

In an interview with our reporter on Thursday August 6, 2024, the Rukungiri District Police Commander SP Apollo Kyagungu, revealed that over 250 cases of livestock theft were recorded in August this year.

Kyagungu argued the general public to always be vigilant by reporting theft cases and the suspects to nearest police posts.

He said police understands that currently boda bodas are usually used to transport both the thieves and stolen animals but was quick to say that police will soon avert this problem.

The Rukungiri Deputy Resident District Commissioner Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom warned that whoever is participating in livestock theft will be arrested and put in courts of law.

Ongom further appealed to the public to work with security agencies in an effort to stop this evil practice.
