Rukungiri Leaders Urged to Serve With Passion as Rubabo Mechanics Emyooga SACCO Begins New Leadership Term

Rukungiri: Leaders of Rubabo Mechanics Emyooga SACCO in Rukungiri District have been urged to serve with passion, hard work, and commitment in order to strengthen and grow their financial institution.

The call was made by Rukungiri District Commercial Officer Keith Ainebyoona during the swearing-in and handover ceremony of the new SACCO leaders held on May 8, at the SACCO offices in Buyanja Town Council.

While addressing the newly elected leaders, Keith said cooperative leaders should work with dedication and honesty to promote development in their SACCOs. He encouraged members of the Board of Governors to lead by example, avoid actions that may damage the institution, and mobilize more people to join and support the SACCO.

Keith said every leader given responsibility must serve with passion and commitment, adding that they are now custodians of the SACCO’s growth and should work hard to ensure its success.

Meanwhile, the Board Chairperson of Rubabo Mechanics Emyooga SACCO, Benson Ampurira Salongo, praised the outgoing leaders for their four years of service, saying their efforts helped the SACCO to grow steadily.

Salongo revealed that the SACCO has so far received seed capital worth 70 million shillings, which has improved the livelihoods of members and increased the SACCO’s savings to more than 9 million shillings.

He, however, noted that the SACCO previously faced challenges where some members treated Emyooga loans as government gifts, leading to poor loan repayment.

Salongo said the new leadership will focus on creating more public awareness so that members understand the true purpose of Emyooga SACCOs.
