Parents Urged to Embrace Child Immunisation During Integrated Health Days
Rukungiri: Parents have been encouraged to take their children for immunisation during this month’s Integrated Child Health Days.
The Health Educator for Rukungiri Municipality, Boaz Kanyesigye, in an interview with our news reporter on April 14, explained that Integrated Child Health Days are held twice a year, in April and October. This year’s exercise began in early April and will run until April 30, 2026.
Kanyesigye said the program ensures that every child is reached with essential health services. These include deworming tablets and Vitamin A supplements. He added that young girls are also given the HPV vaccine to help prevent cervical cancer.
He noted that the program targets children at all stages of life, including those still in the womb, newborns, and older children living in the community.

Provia Tugambirwe also said that during this period, health workers also provide other services. These include antenatal care for pregnant women, family planning services, and postnatal care for mothers who have recently given birth.
She encouraged all parents and community members to take part in these services to improve their health and the well-being of their children.
