Ndorwa West MP Hopeful Eliab Naturinda Condemns Kabale RDC for Halting Pre-PLE Exams in Local Schools.
Kabale: The aspiring Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West Counsel Eliab Naturinda Mporera, has condemned the Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Godfrey Nyakahuma, for suspending Pre-PLE exams in the constituency.
Naturinda expressed his disappointment on October 26, 2024, at a thanksgiving event for Miss Uganda 2024 Natasha Nyonyozi, held at St. John’s Kamuganguzi Church of Uganda Archdeaconry located in Kamuganguzi Sub-county in Kabale district. This follows an order issued by RDC Nyakahuma on October 21, instructing Gombolora Internal Security Officers (GISOs) to halt the Pre-PLE exams sponsored by Naturinda for over 70 primary schools across eight sub-counties in Ndorwa West.
According to several headteachers, they received a directive to cancel the exams, but by the time it was communicated, students had already completed the Mathematics exam in the morning.
Addressing the congregation, Naturinda criticized RDC Nyakahuma’s decision to suspend the exams, calling it harmful to the students’ educational progress. He emphasized the importance of respecting children’s education for the country’s future and expressed his disappointment in seeing educated leaders, including the district education department, involved in obstructing students’ learning. He described this action as jealousy toward the younger generation, who represent the nation’s future.
Naturinda urged local authorities to act as pillars of education, mentoring young learners, and suggested that this incident was politically motivated.
