Nyarushanje Boda Boda Riders Vow to Win Country Radio Festival Prize

Rukungiri; Boda boda riders in Nyarushanje Sub-County have challenged riders from other parts of Rukungiri District to take part in the Country Radio Boda Boda Festival Rukungiri 2026, saying they are determined to win the 2 million shilling prize.

The riders made the remarks on 24 August, during an interview with our news reporter in Nyarushanje Sub-County, where Country Radio will begin preparations for the festival with a boda boda activation on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The activation will include football matches between boda boda stages in Nyarushanje, followed by a music gala at J & K Leisure Centre in Nyarushanje in the evening.

The Chairperson of Nyarushanje Sub-County Boda Boda Association, Apollo Twinamasiko, has called upon riders from Kisiizi, Ibanda, Bwanga, Ruyonza, Nyabushenyi, Bunono, Ihunga, Ndago, Nyakatunga, Burora and other areas to turn up at Nyarushanje Model Primary School playground on August 29.

Twinamasiko said the riders will compete in an inter-stage football tournament to select the best stage that will represent Nyarushanje Sub-County at the district level.

He warned boda boda riders from other sub-counties, saying Nyarushanje riders are confident in their football skills and will not allow anyone to take the 2 million shilling prize.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Musana Boda Boda Association Stage 3 in Nyarushanje, Roland Atwongyeire, said the riders are ready for the competition and will be present for the activation.

Another boda boda rider, Gilbert Niwahereza, commonly known as Nkahendeka, has called upon residents of Nyarushanje and surrounding areas to attend the event on Saturday.

He said residents will have an opportunity to watch the boda boda football matches and later attend a music gala at J & K Leisure Centre in Nyarushanje.

The Nyarushanje activation will be the first Country Radio outreach activity as the station prepares for the Country Radio Boda Boda Festival Rukungiri 2026, scheduled for 28 November at Rukungiri Main Stadium.

The activations will be held in different sub-counties, municipal divisions and town councils across Rukungiri District as part of the preparations for the main festival.
