Rukungiri Man Arrested Over Death of 67-Year-Old Man

Rukungiri: Police in Rukungiri have arrested Rogers Arinaitwe, also known as “Roketo,” in connection with the death of 67-year-old Tindyebwa Remegio.

According to the Kigezi regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, the incident happened on August 17, 2026, at around 2:00 p.m. in Omukibazi Village, Kisiizi Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-county, Rukungiri District.

Police say the suspect followed Tindyebwa, who was returning from a nearby trading centre, and allegedly assaulted him.

Tindyebwa sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kisiizi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have cautioned the public against mob justice and taking the law into their own hands. Members of the public are urged to report disputes to local authorities or the nearest police station for peaceful resolution.
