Rukungiri Deputy RDC Orders Local Leaders to Enforce 3PM Bar Opening Time
Rukungiri: The Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Rukungiri, Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongom, has urged the LC5 Chairperson, all LC3 Chairpersons, and LC1 Chairpersons to support district leaders in monitoring bars that open before 3pm.
Ahimbisibwe made the remarks on August 19, during an interview with our news reporter. He said the cooperation of local leaders will help the government enforce the law and maintain order in trading centres across the district.
Ahimbisibwe Ongom said bars are required to open at 3pm to prevent adults from spending the whole day drinking instead of doing productive work. He noted that early opening of bars can cause people to abandon their gardens, businesses, and family responsibilities, affecting household income and community development.
The Deputy RDC directed local leaders from LC1 to LC5 to work with police and defence committees to carry out daily inspections in villages and trading centres.
