Health ministry seeks to improve ambulance services
National: The Ministry of Health through its E-Emergency Medical Services strategy is gearing up to implement the establishment of 16 Ambulance Regional Call and Dispatch Centers throughout the country at each Regional Referral Hospital.
This initiative aims to ensure prompt responses to medical emergencies and the extension of healthcare services to every health facility.
Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Uganda, revealed that the ministry has already acquired more than 50 ambulances, awaiting commissioning by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
He further stated that it is highly likely that the ministry will launch around 100 ambulances before the year comes to an end.
Ainebyoona informed our reporter that the ministry has already initiated a successful pilot Ambulance Region Call and Dispatch Center at both Mbale and Masaka.
He emphasized that each region will be equipped with ambulances equivalent to the number of constituencies within that region, and some will be strategically positioned along highways to respond promptly to accident-related and other emergencies.
