Rukungiri Assistant RDC Warns Public Against Paying for UWEP Funds

Rukungiri: The Assistant Resident District Commissioner for Rukungiri District, Mable Mirembe Karazarwe, has warned members of the public against paying money to access funds under the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP).

Karazarwe says there is no registration fee or any other payment required to access UWEP funds. She has urged the public to be cautious of individuals who demand money in exchange for helping them secure the funds.

The Assistant RDC made the remarks on September 24, while speaking to our reporter in an interview at her office in Rukungiri.

She explained that UWEP funds are intended to support women, youth, and persons with disabilities to engage in income-generating activities and improve their livelihoods.

Karazarwe encouraged people in villages, constituencies, and sub-counties who are interested in benefiting from the programme to seek guidance from relevant government officials in their areas.

She advised applicants to contact their Community Development Officer (CDO), Commercial Officer, or Sub-county Chairperson for guidance on the application process and requirements for accessing the funds.

Karazarwe said applicants are required to first submit their applications, which are then assessed through the appropriate UWEP structures before successful beneficiaries receive the funds.

She cautioned the public against giving money to individuals who claim they can guarantee access to UWEP funds, emphasizing that no payment should be made to obtain the programme’s funds.
