Bwambara Boda Boda Stage Books Spot in Country Radio Festival Grand Finale

Rukungiri: Bwambara Boda Boda Stage has emerged victorious in the latest round of the Country Radio Boda Boda Festival qualifiers at the sub-county level.

Bwambara defeated Kyabahanga Boda Boda Stage 2–0 in the final on September 20, earning the right to represent Bwambara Subcounty at the grand finale scheduled for 28 November 2026 at Rukungiri Main Stadium.

The festival, organized and sponsored by Country Radio, brought together boda boda riders from several stages within Bwambara Subcounty, including Bwambara, Kikongi, Kikarara, Nyabubare and Kyabahanga.

Bwambara Boda Boda Stage had an impressive run to the final, defeating Kikarara Boda Boda Stage 2–0 before edging Kikongi 1–0 in the next round. They then defeated Kyabahanga 2–0 in the final to become the Bwambara Subcounty champions.

Speaking after the matches, Bwambara Subcounty LC3 Chairperson, Gashom Niwagaba Salongo, thanked Country Radio for its continued support to the community.

Niwagaba said Country Radio has been supporting a pupil at Bwambara Primary School by paying school fees and providing other essential requirements. He said such support is an investment in the future of the child and the wider community.

Niwagaba also called on boda boda riders and other community members to work together, avoid conflicts and promote peace and development.

The Captain of Bwambara Boda Boda Stage, Innocent Aijuka, attributed their victory to the support and motivation they received from Country Radio.

Aijuka said the team is ready to compete against other boda boda stages at the grand finale as they seek to bring the main trophy to Bwambara.

The Chairperson of Bwambara Boda Boda Riders, Wilber Nahoninye, thanked the riders, supporters and Country Radio for organizing the competition.

Nahoninye said the festival has provided an opportunity for boda boda riders to come together, showcase their talents and support community development initiatives.

Meanwhile, the umpire and Head of Wrestling, Joseph Amanya, said Country Radio’s sponsorship is helping to promote sports across different sub-counties.

Amanya encouraged communities to continue supporting Country Radio’s activities.

In other matches, Kikongi defeated Nyabubare 1–0, while Kyabahanga defeated Kikongi Boda Boda Stage 2–0 in the losers’ round.

In the wrestling competition, Butusi Kawanga emerged in first place, followed by Adrian Twinamastiko in second and Ruzindana Modfire in third.

Bwambara Boda Boda Stage will now represent Bwambara Subcounty at the Country Radio Boda Boda Festival grand finale and trophy-lifting ceremony scheduled for 28 November 2026 at Rukungiri Main Stadium.
