Rukungiri Leaders Visit Masaka to Learn Better Coffee-Growing Practices
Rukungiri: Rukungiri District local government leaders including district councilors and departmental heads have travelled to Masaka District for a three-day study tour aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening coffee production.
The delegation left the district headquarters on November 4, at about 2 p.m., shortly after concluding a council meeting. The study tour is expected to end on November 6.
Speaking during the send-off, Rukungiri District Speaker Albert Ahabwe commonly known as Rwamugaata said local government councils are entitled to conduct a study tour every financial year as part of their planning activities.
He said the tours give leaders an opportunity to learn from other districts and understand how different programmes are being implemented so they can bring useful lessons back to their communities.

Rwamugaata said Masaka was chosen because of its progress in coffee production and development of coffee-growing projects.
Rukungiri District Speaker explained that Rukungiri District is also working to promote coffee growing, and the leaders want to learn from Masaka’s experience and understand the methods that have helped farmers improve production.
He said the delegation expects to gain practical knowledge about better coffee-growing practices, which will help leaders guide farmers and support efforts to increase coffee production and improve household incomes.
The Speaker expressed confidence that the lessons learned during the visit would benefit Rukungiri farmers once the leaders return and share the knowledge with local communities.
