RDC Bron Kikashemeza Directs NRM Registrar to Stop Electoral Activities in Western Division Over Alleged Irregularities

Rukungiri: Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Bron Kikanshemeza has directed the NRM Registrar for Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, Aban Muhumuza, to stop conducting NRM electoral activities following allegations of irregularities in the election of NRM flag bearers for the Women’s Council.

According to RDC Kikanshemeza, the elections were scheduled to take place on August 12. However, he said Registrar Aban Muhumuza, together with the NRM Chairperson of Western Division, Michael Byarugaba who is also the former district councillor for western division, and other members of the technical team, had already selected five leaders on August 11, a day before the official election date.

Kikanshemeza said the alleged selection was contrary to NRM electoral guidelines, accusing the officials of conducting the election on a different day and selecting candidates of their choice.

The RDC added that this was the reason the NRM Chairperson and the Returning Officer failed to turn up at the polling station in Western Division yesterday August 12.
