Torrential rain sweeps minor in Kabale.

Kabale: A nursery pupil at Kanyankwanzi Primary School in Bukora Parish, Kitumba Sub County was swept away by fast-flowing waters in Kabale district on Wednesday evening.

The minor has been identified as Pearl Amumpeire, the daughter of David Twinomujuni Bariyanga.

Evas Ayebare, the head teacher of Kanyankwanzi Primary School intimated to Country Radio that the incident occurred at around 6:00 PM during a heavy downpour that began at approximately 4:00 PM and lasted for about four hours. Ayebare explained that the incident happened when the victim was at home.

She added that the victim’s sister, Favor Ampeire, was lucky to be rescued by residents who acted swiftly.

Davis Muhereza, the Kitumba Sub County LCIII chairman told our reporter this morning that there were grim prospects of finding the minor alive.

Muhereza further noted that the rain characterised by strong wind had caused total damage on several crop gardens in the villages of Kanyankwanzi, Kizorera, and Nyakato.

On 10th September, 2023, torrential rains led to running waters that caused devastation in Nshanjare town council of Rubanda district.

The rains that lasted for two-hours resulted in injuries to about three people and the loss of property and destruction of shops, houses, and household items, for 22 others.
