Rukungiri Taxi operators mourn comrade Robert Arinaitwe

Rukungiri: Taxi operators in Rukungiri district have mourned the death of their comrade Robert Arinaitwe who has been the director of Ayebare yesu transporters.

Arinaitwe perished in an accident on Wednesday June 12, 2024 at Kakiika in Nyamunuka town council along Ntungamo-Rukungiri road after the taxi reg no UBN337H Toyota Hiace he was travelling in with other passengers got hit by a bus reg no UAP385U belonging to Kasaba Bus company which was coming from Kampala heading to Rukungiri.

 The taxi had developed a flat tyre and parked at the right hand side of the road with full lights on to fix the tyre before the accident occurred as confirmed by both the Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira and SP Micheal Kananura, the traffic police mouse peace.

 Unfortunately, 6 people including Arinaitwe (Taxi owner and driver) who were taxi occupants died on spot.

Speaking to our reporter, some of the members of Rukungiri taxi owners, drivers and conductors cooperative society including Kamusime Milton, Pius Baguma and Benon Ensinkweri eulogized Arinaitwe, describing him as a hardworking, loving, kind and a selfless comrade.
