Rukungiri Priest Urges Christians to “Be Salt of the Earth” as Parish Honors Catechist with Fundraiser for Vehicle
Rukungiri: The Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish in Rukungiri Municiplaity, Rev. Fr. John Vianny Byaruhanga, has called on Christians to live as the salt of the earth by preserving faith, promoting goodness, and serving others through acts of charity.
Fr. Byaruhanga made the remarks on June 9, while preaching during a thanksgiving Mass held at the home of Catechist William Mugarura Ahereza in Nyakiziba Village, Kigaaga Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub-county, Rujumbura County.
The Mass, organized by Rushasha Hiika Catholic Church, was held in recognition of Ahereza’s dedicated service to the Church and also launched a community fundraising drive aimed at helping him acquire a vehicle to ease his transport as he continues spreading the Word of God.
In his homily, Fr. Byaruhanga emphasized the Christian duty of sharing with others, noting that many people focus only on their personal needs and often forget those around them.
Speaking in an interview after the Mass, William Mugarura Ahereza, 62, who has served as a catechist at Rushasha Hiika for the past two years, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed towards the cause.
