In Rukungiri District, the celebrations took place at Rukungiri Main Stadium on May 12, and began with a procession from the stadium through Rukungiri Town, the district headquarters, Karegyesa, and back to the stadium.

The function was attended by the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner, district security officials, the NRM administrative secretary, the Minister of Security representative, elected leaders from across the district, and members of the public, among others. Hundreds of residents gathered at the stadium to watch the ceremony live on large screens.

The Minister for Security and elected Member of Parliament for Rujumbura Constituency, Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, who was represented by his political assistant Isaac Kaharuza, said the minister contributed greatly towards organizing the celebrations to make the event colorful and successful.
