Rukungiri NRM fraternity celebrate Minister Muhwezi’s re-appointment.

Rukungiri: Rukungiri district National Resistance Movement (NRM) Youths foot soldiers on Monday 25th March 2024 celebrated the recent re-appointment of Jim Muhwezi as the minister.

Minister Muhwezi was re-appointed as the minister of security by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Thursday last week in the cabinet reshuffle.

The celebrations were held at Rukungiri Inn hotel, in Rukungiri municipality.

Speaking at the event, the Rukungiri district Chairman, Geoffrey Kyomukama thanked President Museveni for Muhwezi’s re-appointment saying it will further strengthen teamwork between political leaders and technical staff since the minister has been the co-ordinator of all leaders in the district. He believes his re-appointment will help the district to continue registering development.

Stephen Bewayo Nsubuga, the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) said minister Muhwezi has been acting as s link between the leaders in Rukungiri district and that whenever there are issues to front, they approach his office for assistance, which has helped them succussefully run the developmental projects in the district. 

He appealed to the NRM Members to prioritise unity, which will help them take a step ahead.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson Rukungiri district NRM foot soldiers, Edwin Kuteesa Kaziriri stated that they have the reason to celebrate Jim’s reappointment because as youth, their issues will reach president directly through him adding that Rukungiri as a whole will share on the national cake.

The Appointments Committee of Parliament has now begun vetting ministers appointed by President Museveni last week. The Committee, which conducts its business on camera, is chaired by Speaker Anita Among. Designate State Minister for Youth, Balam Barugahara; Kitgum Woman MP Lillian Aber, the designate Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees; and the designate Minister in charge of Northern Uganda, Kenneth Omona, are among the ministers who shown up on Monday for vetting.
