Rukungiri maid arrested over sneaking ex-husband into the employers’ house.

Rukungiri: A maid in Rukungiri District was yesterday arrested after she was found sleeping in the children’s bedroom with her ex-husband at her employer’s house.

Janet Kasande, an employee of Ivan Namara, also known as Kikoni, of Katungu Cell, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, was found in the children’s bedroom on Friday April 26, 2026 at 2:00 pm while her employers were away in Rukungiri town attending to their business.

Namara told our reporter that he had employed Kasande to live in his home. He told our reporter that his household items have in the past been going missing under suspecious circumstances and finding a man unknown to him in his house raised many unaswered questions.

Peace Kamusiime, the Local Council Chairperson of Katungu Cell, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, said she was notified and together with other leaders, they intervened and arrested the suspect. She said while his Kikoni’s wife had gone back home to pick up her husband’s bottle which she had forgotten, she found the balcony door closed. She forcefully opened it, and heard noise from the children’s bedroom. When she entered, she found a man that was later identified as Bright Mujuni naked prompting her to raise an alarm that attracted neighbors.

Abraham Baryajunwa, the Councilor for Kigaga Ward in Rukungiri Municipality said over time, Kikoni had been reporting to leaders about the theft of his household items. He confirmed that during the previous security meeting, leaders agreed that anyone arrested for theft must pay for all items stolen.
