
Rukungiri District Selects 24 Pupils to Represent at National Athletics Championships in Kabale.
Rukungiri: Rukungiri District has selected 24 primary school pupils to represent the district at the upcoming National Athletics Championships to be held in Kabale District.
This was revealed on April 2, by the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Stephen Nsubuga Bewayo, while speaking at the district headquarters. The competition will take place at Kabale Lower Primary School from Monday, 4th to 14th of this month.
RDC Bewayo urged the selected pupils to maintain discipline, which he described as a key factor in achieving success especially in sports and athletics. He emphasized the importance of unity, respect for leaders, and self-confidence among the participants, noting that although they come from different families and schools, they must work as a team to succeed.

Rukungiri District Sports Officer, Solomon Arinaitwe, who also serves as the Inspector of Schools in Buyanja Sub-county, explained that the selection process started from the school level, progressed through sub-zones, and concluded at the district level.
Arinaitwe confirmed that they have participants in the under-12 and under-14 age categories, and that the team will travel to Kabale on Sunday. He thanked the district authorities for their continued support to the education department, which he said has made such achievements possible.

Among the selected pupils are Makline Byamuhaki from Nyangashara Primary School, Donozio Akatwika, and Anitah Ainembazi from Rutoma Kihanga Primary School in Buhunga Sub-county. The pupils expressed their excitement and pledged to work hard to bring home victory.
