Rukungiri Deputy RDC tasks Residents to monitor government programs.
Rukungiri: The public has been asked to take keen interest in government programs and projects in their areas, if they are to benefit from them.
The call was made by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Wilberforce Ongom while speaking at the commissioning of a 2 million shillings three stance latrine at Kyatoko Primary School.
Ongom said it is the responsibility of citizens to monitor government programs such as Emyooga and the lately introduced Parish Development Model (PDM), since they are the ones to lose once those projects are mismanaged
He admitted that sometimes government projects like schools and roads are poorly made because of lack of strict supervision hence calling on residents to take up the mantle of such matters.
The Mayor Rukungiri Municipality, Charles Makuru hailed the school head teacher and ISHABA contractors for the proper management of the school and the project as well.
The town clerk, Rukungiri municipality, Robert Niwamaya, revealed that the Government is looking forward to building staff houses at the school in the next financial year.
