Rev. Can Nkurunungi Urges Christian Couples to Embrace Unity to Fight Domestic Violence

Kabale: The Kigezi Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Can Milton Nkurunungi, has called on Christian couples to promote cooperation and unity as a way to reduce the rising cases of gender-based violence (GBV) in communities.

While preaching on April 17, during an Easter service for Diocesan workers at the Kigezi Diocesan offices on Rugarama Hill in the Northern Division of Kabale Municipality, Rev. Can Nkurunungi who was representing the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna expressed concern over the increasing cases of domestic violence, especially in Christian families. He described the situation as alarming and against Christian values.

Rev. Can Nkurunungi urged Christians to break the silence around domestic violence and to create peaceful, loving homes. He emphasized that mutual respect, humility, and servant leadership are key to building harmony and development in families and communities.

He also encouraged believers to reflect on the meaning of Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as a time for spiritual renewal, forgiveness, and living a Christ-like life.

Rev. Can Nkurunungi said the resurrection of Jesus should not only be seen as a victory over death but also as a reminder of the suffering and patience Jesus endured. He called on Christians to remain strong in their faith, even during difficult times.
