Religious Leaders Call for Transparency and Accountability in Leadership
Rukungiri: Religious leaders and Christians in Rukungiri have emphasized the need for leadership that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and service to humanity as a foundation for spreading the gospel and fostering church development.
This appeal was made by the Bishop’s Commissary of North Kigezi Diocese, Retired Rev. Nathan Mugisha Kirebete, during his sermon on January 4, at the farewell ceremony for Retired Ven. Rev. Can. Eldard Ahimbisibwe Kashanje. The event was held at St. Paul’s Kasoroza Parish, the headquarters of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry.
Rev. Nathan highlighted the importance of fostering friendships in different communities, stating that friendship is a source of wealth. He commended Ven. Can. Kashanje for his unwavering service to the diocese, noting that his tenure was free of conflicts and exemplary in all aspects.

Edson Mpirime, the Head of Laity for Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, congratulated Ven. Can. Kashanje on his retirement, describing him as a role model and a trustworthy custodian of church funds. He praised him for maintaining peace and integrity during his service. In recognition of his dedication, Christians presented Ven. Can. Kashanje with a car to aid his transportation in retirement.
Mugarura Isaac, a synod member from Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, acknowledged Ven. Can. Kashanje’s contributions during his six years of service, including elevating Kyabugashe Parish to Archdeaconry status and promoting Kahoko-Mitooma and Mashongora churches to parish level. He also expressed confidence in the newly appointed Archdeacon, Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, and assured him of the Christians’ support in advancing the Archdeaconry’s development.
In his farewell remarks, Ven. Can. Ahimbisibwe Kashanje thanked God for guiding him throughout his service. He expressed gratitude to the clergy and Christians for their cooperation and support. Reflecting on his tenure, he acknowledged the challenges of church work but thanked God for enabling him to retire peacefully. He urged Christians to warmly welcome and support Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, the incoming Archdeacon, to ensure the continued growth of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry.
