Nyeibingo residents accuse leaders of neglect, threaten to vote them out in 2026.
Rukungiri: Residents of Nyeibingo parish in Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri District have accused their leaders of abandoning them to suffer with poor services despite the promises they made in the previous elections.
Speaking to our reporter on Sunday March 16, 2025 during Rwabugumi Boda Boda tournament match day 5 games held at Mutaturwa playground in Nyeibingo parish, Kebisoni sub-county Rukungiri district, residents say leaders don’t visit their parish to know the problems they are facing and wondered how their issues would be presented in respective councils when leaders are not aware of them.
Obed Niwenyesiga, Nelson Amumpire aka Kadidi, Deus Byamukama, Kellen Tumwesigye, George Turyatunga and Zipolla Mugisha highlighted the problems they face including water scarcity, lack of electricity, bad roads and schools in a sorry state.
They have now threatened to vote out all the current leaders if their problems are not addressed.
While responding to residents’ concerns, Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabugumi, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rubabo County and currently the secretary for health at the Rukungiri District Council, attributed the current voter neglect to incompetent leaders elected by voters.
Rwabugumi who also represents Nyarushanje sub-county in the Rukungiri district council urged residents to vote for leaders who understand their challenges rather than Kampala politicians who use money to solicit votes.
At the same event, the district councilor for Buyanja sub-county Albert Mugisha Rwamugata warned voters to stay away from people who don’t know their problems and elect the ones they have grown up with.
Meanwhile in the matches played, Mabanga boda boda riders defeated Karuhembe boda boda riders with 2-1 and Nyeibingo smashed Kyigiro 3-0.
Next matches will be played at Nyakisoroza playground in Nyakishenyi sub-county on 22nd March 2025.
