Nyamunuka Town Council Mayor and Councillors Sworn In

Ntungamo: The elected Mayor of Nyamunuka Town Council, Katafa Yassin Byamukama, has officially been sworn in as the Mayor of Nyamunuka Town Council in Ntungamo District.

The swearing-in ceremony was held on May 28, at the Nyamunuka Town Council headquarters in Ntungamo District. During the ceremony, other ward councillors of Nyamunuka Town Council were also sworn into office. The ceremony was presided over by Ntungamo District Returning Officer Honest Baguma together with the District Chief Administrative Officer, Kiiza Feredisi.

The councillors elected Seph Julia Turyahabwe, the female councillor for Kyaruhoga Ward, as the Speaker of Nyamunuka Town Council unopposed. Rukundo Rashid Bwisho, the councillor representing persons living with disabilities, was also elected unopposed as the Deputy Speaker.

While delivering his speech after being sworn in, Mayor Katafa Yassin Byamukama said that public offices belong to the people and urged residents to freely use their leaders for guidance and support because leaders are not rulers.

The Mayor also promised to fight corruption, saying there would be no sleep and no corruption in his leadership. He called upon opposition members to cooperate with him for the development of the town council and urged all leaders to work for the people who voted them into office.

Mayor Katafa nominated Bananukyire Florence Igusha as the Deputy Mayor, Behekanira Euzobio as Secretary for Finance, Marvin Babujaga as Secretary for Works and Production, and Isaac Tukahebwa Mashokye as Secretary for Social Services.

The Principal Town Clerk of Nyamunuka Town Council, Kiconco Rosette, urged the newly sworn-in political leaders to cooperate with technical staff to improve service delivery and promote development in the area.

Rubega Edinani GISO of Nyamunuka Town Council promised to work closely with the new mayor and his team. Meanwhile, the Ntungamo District Vice Chairperson LCV, Asuman Kigongo, advised the new town council leadership to process land titles for town council land to protect it from encroachment.
