Man Dies After Wife Allegedly Cuts His Throat Over Love Dispute in Buyanja

Rukungiri: Residents of Rwenanura cell in Nyabiteete parish, Buyanja Sub-county have this afternoon June 3, been left in shock after a woman identified as Patience Akankwatsa allegedly murdered his husband Bruce Niwamanya.

A reliable source indicates that Akankwatsa killed Niwamanya, after accusing him of marrying another wife identified as Shivani Asiimwe whom he had lived with for a period of two weeks.

Eliab Tugume the Rwenanura cell LCI chairperson confirmed the incident to our reporter this afternoon.

Tugume said the disagreements began yesterday when Akankwatsa approached the husband seeking help and materials to care for the child. It is alleged that the husband gave her a mattress, a blanket, and bedsheets.

Today, Akankwatsa returned seeking money for rent from her husband. The husband initially agreed and gave her enough money to cover two months’ rent.

However, while at Niwamanya’s shop, Akankwatsa allegedly used a sharp knife to cut his throat, killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile Asiimwe, the second wife told our reporter that while she was coming from behind the shop, she found Akankwatsa slaughtering her husband with a sharp knife.

This she said this prompted her to make loud noise that drew the attention of the neighbors who ran to the scene and arrested the suspect.
