Lawyers, Political, and Religious Leaders in Rukungiri Urged to Unite Against Corruption

Rukungiri: A representative from the Judicial Service Commission Anitah Mirembe, has called on lawyers, political, and religious leaders in Rukungiri District to work together in the fight against corruption.

This appeal was made on January 21, during a meeting held at the Rukungiri District main hall, aimed at educating leaders on laws designed to combat corruption in Uganda.

Mirembe emphasized that the primary goal of the Judicial Service Commission is to act as a bridge to justice and ensure un-accountable judiciary. She stated that their mission is to promote excellence in judicial service through recruitment, review of terms and conditions of service, disciplinary control, stakeholder engagement, and public legal education.

She also highlighted the sources of corruption within the judiciary, including unauthorized meetings with judges, biased decision-making, and unreasonable judgments.
