Kisoro Authorities protest delay by Gov’t to relocate landslide victims.
Kisoro: Authorities in Kisoro District are accusing the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) of delaying to relocate residents in Taba Village, Mbuga Parish in Nyakinama Sub County, following the decision by the Government to halt farming activities in the area.
The residents claim that the Government halted farming activities in the area last month after their area developed a huge crack.
They accuse the OPM office of not doing much to save them yet their area is prone to disasters most especially during rainy seasons.
The Kisoro District Environmental Officer, Eunice Akankwasa, said she immediately notified the Office of the Prime Minister and they pledged to relocate the affected families.
She noted that after waiting for Government’s intervention in vain, they have advised affected locals to relocate to their relative’s homes, as they wait for a positive response.
