Kabale Police Arrest Suspect in Alleged Attempted Murder Case 

Kabale: Police in Kabale District have arrested one person and are pursuing others for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old boy, Obama Ramathani, in December 2024.

The boy was beaten on suspicion of being a criminal at Rushambya Cell, Kirigime Ward, Kabale Municipality. 

According to the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the incident happened at an unknown time and date in early December. It is alleged that the boy was attacked after being accused of attempting to steal from the house of Catherine Orishaba. The assailants reportedly dumped him unconscious in a nearby bush. 

A passerby found the boy in critical condition and informed his father, Ramathani Tibanyendera, who rushed him to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment. Upon examination, doctors discovered that the boy’s legs were severely infected, leading to cancer. Both legs were amputated to save his life. 

The boy’s father reported the matter to Kabale Police on 1^st January, and a case of attempted murder was opened.
