Kabale Diocese Donates Items to Rukungiri Prisons and Nyakibale Hospital

Rukungiri: Kabale Diocese has donated assorted items to inmates at Rukungiri Prison and patients at St. Carol Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale.

The charity exercise took place on March 25, led by a team from Kabale Diocese on behalf of Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese. They were joined by members of the Catholic faith from across Rukungiri District.

According to the Pastoral Coordinator of Kabale Diocese Rev. Father Fideri Ndagijimana, who represented the Bishop, the diocese visited Nyakibale Deanery in Rukungiri District to mark the Annunciation of Mary and fulfill Pope Francis’ call to celebrate the pilgrim of Hope.

During the visit, the team donated food and other essential items to prisoners at Rukungiri Prison. Later, they proceeded to St. Carol Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale, where they visited and offered support to all patients.

The assorted items included benches of bananas, bibles, rice, soap, sugar, salt, cassava, sweet potatoes and among others

The Dean of Nyakibale Parish and Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, Rev. Father Dr. Julius Turyatorana, revealed that all nine Catholic parishes in Rukungiri District collectively raised UGX 5 million to support the initiative. The funds were used to purchase the donated items.

The Principal Nursing Officer at St. Carol Lwanga Hospital Agatha Kebirungi, expressed deep gratitude to Bishop Rubaramira and Kabale Diocese for their generous support, which she said greatly benefited the hospital and its patients.
