Inspire Africa coffee Park: Minister Musenero impressed by progress, pledges more gov’t support.

Ntungamo: The Minister of Science Technology and innovation Dr Monic Musenero has commended the rapid progress of ongoing coffee value addition works at Inspire Africa Coffee park in Rwashamire town council, Kajara County, Ntungamo district.

The park, home to the Inspire Africa Coffee Value Addition Plant, serves as a key center for enhancing coffee production and value addition in the region.

Minister Musenero expressed her gratitude on Tuesday March 25, 2025 while visiting the coffee factory .

The Minister revealed that the government is committed to continue supporting this project which she said has already started yielding results in form of high-value products, including instant coffee, drip coffee, malt coffee, coffee energy drinks, and coffee-based beauty cosmetics.

Musenero said the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to add value to Uganda’s coffee through processing and manufacturing, ultimately increasing revenue from coffee exports.

In May 2024, President Yoweri Museveni inspected the factory’s progress and reaffirmed his commitment to Uganda’s coffee value addition strategy.

He highlighted the economic potential of processed coffee, noting that while exporting raw beans earns Uganda about $2.50 per kilogram, processed coffee can fetch up to $40 per kilogram in international markets.

The Inspire Africa Coffee Park is a key part of Uganda’s Coffee Investment Consortium Uganda (CICU), a government-backed initiative launched in 2023 to promote value-added coffee exports.

The project is also receiving support from the Science, Technology, and Innovation Secretariat under the Office of the President.
