Hon. Frank Rukanirwa Urges Unity Among Muslims in Rujumbura Constituency

Rukungiri: Aspiring Member of Parliament for Rujumbura Constituency, Hon. Frank Arinaitwe Rukanirwa, has called on the Muslim community to embrace unity and avoid religious divisions for the sake of development.

Speaking to our news reporter after hosting an Iftar dinner for Muslim leaders on March 27, at Bwambara Hills Hotel in Bwambara Sub county, Rukungiri District, Hon. Rukanirwa emphasized the need for cooperation among different religious groups. He also provided Iftar meals to leaders from 18 mosques across the constituency as they observe the Ramadan fasting period.

Hon. Rukanirwa noted that Kigezi Sub region has often been affected by religious divisions, especially during elections. He warned that such divisions hinder regional development and urged residents to focus on improving their livelihoods, educating their children, and working together for a better future.

He stated that he don’t consider religious affiliations when giving back to the community because all people believe in one God. There is no reason for people to hate one another because of their faith.

He encouraged Muslims to actively participate in government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga as a way to fight poverty and improve their standards of living.

The Bikurungu County Sheikh Abudkhalim Omuhabuzi and Rujumbura County Sheikh Badru Byabagambi thanked Hon. Rukanirwa for his continued support of the Muslim community, especially during Ramadan. He urged Muslims to engage in politics and government programs while supporting leaders who treat all religions equally.

He also prayed for blessings upon Hon. Rukanirwa, appreciating his generosity and commitment to fostering religious harmony.

The Muslim coordinator in Rujumbura constituency on team Frank Rukanirwa Abdul Khalid Niyitegeka commonly known as Toti thanked Frank Rukanirwa for supporting the community with beneficial projects such as saving box, constructing bridges, boreholes and engaging himself in community engagements which cooperates the community without divisionism.
