
Gen. Henry Tumukunde’s Office Concludes Relief Food Support for Hailstorm Victims in Rukungiri
Rukungiri: The office of the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality Gen. Henry Tumukunde, has concluded its relief food distribution to residents affected by a recent hailstorm.
The support reached affected families in Kibale, Mutara, and Kafunda cells in Karangaro Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality on March 18. Each household received five kilograms of maize flour to help them cope with food shortages.
While delivering the relief on behalf of Gen. Tumukunde, coordinator Gracious Rusheesha expressed condolences to the affected families and urged them to replant their crops to prevent future food shortages. He dismissed rumors that the relief was from the government, clarifying that Gen. Tumukunde personally intervened after learning about the residents’ plight.

Local leaders, including the LC1 chairperson of Mutara Cell Geoffrey Katimbira, and the LC1 chairperson of Kibale Cell Frank Turyahikayo, confirmed that their areas were severely affected, leaving many families in distress since farming is their main livelihood. They called upon the government and other well-wishers to follow Gen. Tumukunde’s example, noting that no other assistance has been received so far.
Some beneficiaries, including Serina Kakonya, Speech Musimenta, and Denis Twijukye, expressed gratitude to Gen. Tumukunde, stating that the hailstorm had destroyed their food gardens, leaving them struggling to find meals for their families.
