Rukungiri: Centenary Bank has contributed 100 bags of cement worth UGX 3.5 million to North Kigezi Diocese to support the completion of Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasano.

The handover was led by the Chief Manager for Corporate and SME Banking Rashid Musisi Ssemanda, together with the new Manager of Centenary Bank Rukungiri Branch Brian Kasaija, and other staff members.

The contribution was made on April 27, during a thanksgiving service organized to mark the second anniversary of Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe as Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese. The thanksgiving event, held at the diocesan headquarters in Rukungiri Municipality, aimed at raising funds to complete the construction of the cathedral.

After the handover, Ssemanda explained that Centenary Bank, although founded on Catholic values, serves all people equally without discrimination based on tribe, religion, or political affiliation. He said the bank decided to support North Kigezi Diocese because the Bishop and the church maintain accounts with them, and it is part of the bank’s culture to give back to the community.

He pledged continued support to North Kigezi Diocese, including assistance to church-founded schools and health facilities through Centenary Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs. Ssemanda also noted that Centenary Bank operates 81 branches across Uganda, with 210 ATM machines and more than 8,000 Cent agents serving customers countrywide.
