Bugangari Police OC Evunali Katebarirwe Dies in Mbarara

Rukungiri: The Uganda Police Force is mourning the death of Evunali Katebarirwe, the Officer in Charge (OC) of Bugangari Police Station, who passed away on the morning of April 24.

According to preliminary information, Katebarirwe died at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital. The exact cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed.

The District Police Commander (DPC) of Rukungiri Central Police Station, SSP Brian Ampaire, in an interview with our news reporter on April 24, said that Katebarirwe had been transferred to Bugangari Police Station just last month.

Ampaire explained that three days before his death, Katebarirwe reported to Rukungiri Central Police Station to seek permission to go for treatment at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where he later passed away.

Burial arrangements are set for Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Rukiri Sub-county, Ibanda District.

Ampaire has called on the people of Bugangari to remain calm, assuring them that a new Officer in Charge will be appointed soon.
