Bishop Asiimwe’s thanksgiving to focus on resource mobilisation for Emmanuel Cathedral completion

Rukungiri: The Bishop of North Kigezi diocese Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe has said that his upcoming thanks giving function for his one year anniversary in office as Bishop will focus on raising funds to complete the construction of Emmanuel cathedral Kyinyasano. 

The Bishop made the revelation on Tuesday 12th March 2024 during a press conference that he held in his office at North Kigezi diocese headquarters in Kinyasano ward, Western division, Rukungiri Municipality, marking a year in office.

Bishop Asiimwe was elected the 6th Bishop of North Kigezi, consecrated and enthroned as Bishop on 12th March 2023 at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyansano, Rukungiri.

The mega thanksgiving is scheduled for 17th March 2024 at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano where thousands of believers are expected to attend.

The construction of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano began during the time of the Late Bishop Benon Magezi.

Bishop Asiimwe revealed that engineers have already done a harmer test and is optimistic that at his thanksgiving, resources will be mobilised to push forward the construction of the church.

The chief guest is expected to be the former Prime minister, Rt Hon Amaama Mbabazi and the service will be presided over by the West Ankole diocese Bishop Rt Rev Johnson Twinomujuni.

The Diocesan Secretary, Rev can Eric Baingana Mugyenzi said that they have involved institutions, government leaders, church lay canons, archdeacons and parish priests in organising the function and is expecting that it will be a success.

Mama Florence Asiimwe, a wife to Bishop Onesimus urged all women to raise their children well which will foster development in their homes.

She further asked them to love their husbands, pray for them and be submissive.

The theme for Sunday’s service is extracted from Haggai 1:8. (Come let us build the house of the lord).
