
Andrew Kikira Hails Bishop Onesmus for Transformational Leadership
Rukungiri: The aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, Ankunda Andrew Kikira, has applauded the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, for the transformative work he is spearheading within the diocese.
Speaking in an interview with our news reporter following the celebration of Bishop Onesmus’ second anniversary as diocesan bishop, held on Sunday April 27, at the Diocese headquarters in Rukungiri Municipality, Ankunda commended the Bishop’s achievements over the past two years.
He noted that since Bishop Onesmus assumed office, he has made remarkable strides, particularly in the education sector. Ankunda highlighted the revival of Church of Uganda-founded schools such as Makobore High School and Kinyasano Girls High School, which were previously facing decline. He said the Bishop’s leadership has helped boost academic performance and increased student enrollment in these institutions.
Ankunda also praised Bishop Onesmus for championing the fight against poverty by encouraging households to improve their incomes through projects such as coffee farming.
Ankunda stated that, he has been instrumental in bridging divisions within the community across tribal, religious, and political lines. He further applauded the Bishop for organizing a thanksgiving event aimed at raising funds for the completion of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano.
Ankunda concluded by urging the public to heed the Bishop’s call to embrace hard work, initiate income-generating projects, and adopt a culture of saving as a strategy to eradicate household poverty.
