Western Division of Rukungiri Municipality Plans Day of Prayer and Fasting for New Term

Rukungiri: The Town Clerk of Western Division in Rukungiri Municipality, John Kwesiga, has announced plans to hold a day of prayer and fasting to dedicate the new leadership term of 2026–2031 to God.

Addressing division councillors at the division headquarters over the weekend, Kwesiga said they had written to the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, requesting him to lead the prayers and serve as the main preacher.

Kwesiga said the date for the prayer and fasting day will be communicated after the bishop confirms a convenient date based on his schedule.

He said the division has held a similar function before, during the previous term, and called upon all division councillors, led by the Division Chairperson, technical staff, residents and well-wishers to attend and support the event once the date is confirmed.

The Western Division Chairperson, Sylvia Twinomugisha Katimbira, said leaders have a responsibility to dedicate the division to God and seek guidance for the proper management of its affairs.

Katimbira pledged that the division leadership will continue working diligently to maintain the good reputation of Western Division, which she said has been known for performing well in the management and use of public funds.

She also called on leaders and technical staff to remain committed to serving residents and promoting development in the division.
