Bishop Rubaramira commissions St peters catholic parish-Katojo.
Rukungiri: The bishop of Kabale diocese Rt Rev Callistus Rubaramira has urged Christians to understand that they are gifts from God.
The bishop’s call was contained in his homily during the mass at the commissioning of St Peters Katojo catholic parish in Katojo ward, Buyanja town council, Rukungiri district on Saturday 18th November 2023.
Bishop Rubaramira urged Christians in the newly created parish to use their God-given talents and be the face of positive changes in their churches and communities.
He further tasked the parish authorities to establish a parish council in a space of two months for the smooth running of parish activities and appealed to christians of all statuses to support the parish.
The minister of ICT and National guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi who was the chief guest challenged Christians who attended the mass to join government programs in order to fight poverty in their homes.
He said the government has brought many programmes which people must join if they are to fight poverty.
Meanwhile the pioneer parish priest for Katojo catholic parish Rev.Fr. Benjamin Tukamushaba commended the bishop for trusting them with the parish status and promised to work with Christians for the progress of the parish.
The head of laity at the parish Dr. Edward Kazaire commended every effort that was put in for the realization of commissioning St peters Catholic parish. He said it was the development of the church that guaranteed the presence of the parish.
St Peters Katojo catholic parish was curved out of Nyakibale and Ndama catholic parishes and covers different churches including Nyabicence, Nyakaina, Rwenkurijo and Rwenanura all formerly under Nyakibale Parish. Other churches under St peters katojo Catholic parish are Rubanga,Kihengamo and Ibumba formerly under Ndama Parish.
