UPDF 3 Division Launches Political Education Course for Troops

Moroto: The Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 3 Infantry Division, Brigadier General Michael Walaka Hyeroba, has launched a week-long Political Education and Political Commissars Course for troops at the Division Headquarters in Moroto.

The training is being conducted by the Political Education and Ideology Caravan from the Joint Staff Political Commissariat.

Speaking during the launch on October 5, Brig. Gen. Hyeroba urged the trainees to take the course seriously and apply the knowledge gained in their day-to-day military duties.

He encouraged the participants to remain positive throughout the training, saying the knowledge acquired should be applied in the line of duty and not only for classroom purposes.

Brig. Gen. Hyeroba also emphasised the importance of discipline in the military, describing a disciplined soldier as loyal, self-driven and dependable.

He urged the troops to follow military rules and regulations as a guiding principle to help them perform their duties professionally.

The training team is led by the Director of Political Education at Land Forces, Colonel Anoatoli Macwantw Nuwagira.

Other facilitators include Lieutenant Colonel Simon Peter Kulumba, Head of Political Education at the Joint Staff Chieftaincy of Political Education and Coordinator of Presidential Skilling Hubs, and Major Ronald Rwehuta Murwani, Head of Psychosocial Support.

The launch was attended by the Deputy Division Commander, Colonel Winston Mugarura, brigade commanders, the Division Operations and Training Officer, Colonel Santurino Mashereka Tumuranzye, commanding and battalion commanders, heads of departments, as well as senior and junior officers and militants.
