Rubanga Parish Residents Receive Relief Aid from Aspiring MP Alex Bob Rugonde.
Rukungiri: A section of residents from Rubanga Parish, Buyanja Sub-county in Rukungiri District on October 13, 2024 received relief items from the office of Alex Bob Rugonde, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Rubabo Constituency.
The relief, consisting of 10 tons of maize flour and 3 tons of beans, was distributed at Kishonga Primary School to locals who were affected by a hailstorm in August this year. According to Rugonde, over 2,000 households within Buyanja Sub-county will benefit, with each household set to receive 4 kilograms of posho and 2 kilograms of beans. This aid is specifically for those affected by the hailstorm, and distribution will be in Sub County by Sub County across the constituency.
The heavy rains in August damaged crops like bananas, beans, cassava, and sweet potatoes, raising concerns about potential food shortages in the area.
Rugonde in an interview with our reporter emphasized that leadership is ordained by God, and in difficult times, people should choose leaders who can support them during crises. He urged residents to cooperate with each other and their leaders to overcome the disaster.
Buyanja Sub county LCIII Chairperson, Emmy Rubondo, advised residents to use the beans provided by Rugonde as seeds for planting, as a step towards preventing famine.
Some of the beneficiaries in Rubanga Parish, including Annet Mwesigwa, Midius Kobusigye, Dominic Nasasira, and Esau Rutawama, expressed gratitude to Rugonde for the relief, noting that not everyone would offer such help.
