Minister Jim Muhwezi Replaces Broken Rwambara Health Centre III Ambulance with a New One

Rukungiri: The Rujumbura County Member of Parliament and Minister for Security, Major General Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, has replaced the broken-down Rwambara Health Centre III ambulance with a brand-new one.

The new ambulance, registration number UA 723CP, was officially handed over to the Rukungiri District Local Government through the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), represented by Deputy CAO Hillary Agaba. The Minister for Security was represented by his former political rival, Frank Arinaitwe Rukanirwa, who recently lost to him in the concluded NRM primaries.

While handing over the ambulance on November 4, Rukanirwa, who also serves as the NRM Chairperson for Bwambara Sub county, clarified that the ambulance was not a donation but a replacement for the old one, which had broken down and failed to cope with the poor road conditions in Rwambara Sub county. He noted that although it had been taken to Kampala for repairs, its mechanical condition was beyond recovery, prompting Minister Jim Muhwezi to provide a new one.

Rukanirwa added that Rwambara is a hard-to-reach area bordering Queen Elizabeth National Park and therefore needs a reliable ambulance to serve all residents regardless of their political, religious, or social affiliations. He emphasized that the ambulance would be available for use at all times.

Deputy CAO Hillary Agaba urged the health facility administration, led by the facility in-charge, to use the ambulance strictly for medical purposes and avoid misusing it for other activities such as transporting wedding couples. He also encouraged them to maintain it in good mechanical condition.

The Rukungiri District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. Mucunguzi Akasiima, appealed to residents to report any challenges they face in health facilities to his office or that of the CAO to improve service delivery. He pledged that in the current financial year, the district will focus on renovating staff houses and other health facilities to strengthen the health sector.

The Rukungiri District NRM Vice Chairperson, Ambrose Kibuuka, who is also a former MP aspirant for Rujumbura Constituency, commended the development, noting that Rwambara Health Centre III is the only facility in the constituency with an independent ambulance at the sub county level. He reminded the public that the ambulance is meant for patients in critical condition, not for transporting dead bodies.
