Ankole Farmers and Traders SACCO Donates Delivery Bed to Rukungiri Health Centre IV

Rukungiri: The Ankole Farmers and Traders SACCO has donated a delivery bed to Rukungiri Health Centre IV, also known as Rwamahwa, as part of preparations for its 25th anniversary celebrations scheduled for 17th November 2025 at the SACCO’s head offices in Mbarara.

The handover ceremony took place on September 18, at the health Centre in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

The Mayor of Rukungiri Municipality, Charles Makuru, who was the Guest of Honour, said the donation will greatly improve health services, especially in the maternity department, and enhance the overall quality of care for patients. He added that the bed will help save many lives.

Makuru also praised the management of Ankole Farmers and Traders SACCO for the excellent services they provide, noting that unlike other SACCOs, their clients rarely complain.

The SACCO Chairperson, Nathan Kateebe, said the donation was a way of thanking God for the 25 years the SACCO has been in service, noting that the journey has not been easy. He added that the contribution demonstrates the SACCO’s commitment to supporting communities and improving healthcare services in the region.

According to the In-charge of Rukungiri Health Centre IV, Moreen Atwikirize, the facility serves a target population of 9,337 people and delivers 60–70 babies every month. She explained that the health centre previously had only one old delivery bed, which made service delivery difficult.
