Rukungiri Evangelist Claims God Has Chosen Him to Bring Back Jesus Christ After 365 Days of Fasting
RUKUNGIRI: Evangelist Alfred Mugarura of Christ Believers Temple Church in Rukungiri Municipality has claimed that God has revealed to him 10 signs concerning the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Mugarura made the revelation on November 8, during a Sunday church service held at his church in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality, where he shared what he described as messages and signs from God.
His announcement comes after completing a 365-day fast that started on November 3, 2025, and ended on November 2, 2026.
According to Mugarura, some of the signs were revealed to him before the year-long fast, with the earliest dating back to 2010 when he was a student at Makerere University. He said other signs were revealed to him during his spiritual journey, particularly in 2025.
The evangelist explained that the signs have strengthened his belief that he has been given a special mission to help people understand God’s message and prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
He also connected the meaning of his names, Alfred and Mugarura, to what he described as his divine calling.
According to Mugarura, the name Mugarura means “to bring back”, while Alfred means “wise counsellor”. He interprets the combination of the two names as a message about bringing back Jesus Christ.
He further referred to Isaiah 9:6 in the Good News Bible, which describes the coming Messiah as a “Wonderful Counsellor”. He said the similarity between the meaning of his name Alfred and the biblical description of Jesus is one of the signs pointing to his mission.
The 10 Signs of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ According to Evangelist Alfred Mugarura
During his presentation, Mugarura explained the following 10 signs, which he believes God revealed to him over the years.
1. 2010: The Year to Put on a Necktie (Holy Spirit)
Mugarura said that at the beginning of 2010, he developed a strong feeling that it was the year to start wearing a necktie, something he was not used to doing.
He said he started wearing one and telling his friends that 2010 was the year to put on a necktie.
According to him, this was the first sign revealed to him by the Holy Spirit.
2. Buy the Bible, You Will Remain with Some Balance, and It Will Give You Everything You Need (God)
Mugarura said that while studying at Makerere University in 2010, he got to know Prophet Samuel Kakande and started attending his fellowships.
He recalled attending a Good Friday overnight service organised by the prophet, after which he planned to travel to Rukungiri for Easter.
However, he did not have enough money for the journey and borrowed Shs30,000 from his roommate, Abraham.
He said that after the overnight prayers, he had a dream in which God asked him what business he could start using the borrowed money to make profits.
Mugarura said he suggested selling airtime scratch cards, but God reportedly advised him to buy a Bible instead.
According to his account, God told him that the Bible would provide everything he needed and that he would remain with some balance.
He said he followed the instruction and bought a Bible for Shs25,000, remaining with Shs5,000.
He presented the same Bible during the church service, saying it was the exact Bible he had bought about 16 years earlier following the dream.
3. Alfred, A Friend: Jesus Is a Friend
Mugarura said that while at Makerere University, the Holy Spirit once instructed him to move from the back of a lecture room to the front.
He said he went to the whiteboard and wrote his name, Alfred, followed by the words “A Friend” and “Jesus Is a Friend”.
According to him, some students wondered what he meant and questioned his actions, with some even suggesting that he was not mentally well.
However, he said he believed he was simply following God’s instructions.
4. Mugarura: To Bring Back; Mugarura Alfred: To Bring Back Jesus
Mugarura explained that this sign followed the incident in which he wrote his first name on the lecture room whiteboard.
He said that about a week later, during another lecture, he asked the lecturer for permission to address the class.
Despite objections from some students, the lecturer allowed him to speak. He then went to the front and wrote his second name, Mugarura, on the board.
According to him, Mugarura means “to bring back” in his interpretation of the name.
When combined with his first name, Alfred, and the earlier message that Jesus is a friend, he concluded that his full name represented the message “to bring back Jesus”.
He said he initially struggled to understand why God would give him such a big responsibility but believed God assured him that He would help him accomplish the mission.
5. Today You Will Know the Truth (God): There Is a Young Man Here, All Mothers Will Be Crying to Have Him as a Son-in-Law, He Will Be a Servant of God (Prophet Lutajo – Kenya)
Mugarura said that while still at Makerere University, he once woke up to what he described as a message from the Holy Spirit telling him that he would know the truth that day.
He explained that he had been worried because some students considered his actions unusual, and he sometimes questioned himself.
Later that evening, he passed through Makerere University grounds, where Pentecostal Christians were celebrating 50 years of Pentecostalism in Uganda.
He said he found a Kenyan preacher identified in his account as Prophet Lutajo preaching to a large gathering.
According to Mugarura, the preacher suddenly announced that there was a young man in the gathering whom mothers would wish to have as a son-in-law and that the young man would become a servant of God.
Mugarura said he believed the prophecy was the truth the Holy Spirit had promised him earlier that morning.
6. Light Covering Africa and Originating from Uganda, Specifically Kigezi (Pastor Robert Kayanja)
Mugarura said another sign came through a message he watched on television from Pastor Robert Kayanja of Miracle Centre Church.
He recalled that Pastor Kayanja had held a crusade in Mbale and later shared an experience in which he reportedly saw an image resembling the map of Africa covered in light.
According to Mugarura, Pastor Kayanja explained that the light was coming from Uganda, particularly Western Uganda and the Kigezi region.
Mugarura said he interpreted this message as a confirmation of his calling because Jesus is described in the Bible as the Light of the World.
He believes the message about light coming from Kigezi was connected to his understanding that he had been called to bring Jesus back.
7. Jesus Bless Me (Alfred): I Am for Long Ago (Jesus); I Am for This Generation (Alfred)
Mugarura said this sign came through a dream in 2010, in which he saw Jesus with His disciples.
He said he knelt before Jesus and asked Him for a blessing.
According to Mugarura, Jesus told him, “I am for long ago,” to which he responded, “I am for this generation.”
He interpreted the conversation as confirmation that Jesus had given him a responsibility to serve the current generation.
He also explained that one of the activities he had started under this mission was calling on Manchester United Football Club to change its nickname, “Red Devils”, because he believes the name does not glorify God.
Mugarura said he supports the club but believes the nickname is spiritually wrong. He further claimed that Manchester United would not win any major trophy unless it changed the name.
8. A Ring of Authority on the Fourth Finger of the Right Hand
Mugarura said this sign began in 2019 when he started preaching.
He explained that something developed on the fourth finger of his right hand and became bigger in 2023.
He said he attempted to remove it using medicine but was unsuccessful.
According to him, while going back to the pharmacy to complain about the medicine, he passed by his parents’ home and found a visiting bishop wearing a ring on the same finger.
He later researched the significance of the ring and discovered that bishops wear rings as a symbol of their authority and position in the church.
Mugarura said he interpreted this as God’s confirmation that the growth on his finger was a sign of spiritual authority given to him directly by God, rather than something made by human hands.
9. 15/1: His Date of Birth, the Date the Israelites Left Slavery in Egypt and the Date Jesus Died for the Sins of the World
Mugarura said this sign was revealed to him in 2025 while reading the Bible and praying.
He referred to Numbers 33:3, which mentions the 15th day of the first month as the date when the Israelites left Egypt following their slavery.
He said God showed him that he was also born on the same date, January 15, 1990.
Mugarura further connected the date to the biblical account of the Passover and the death of Jesus Christ.
Mugarura said he believes his birth on the 15th day of the first month was intentional and connected to his calling to help save people of his generation.
10. Meaning of the Name Alfred: Wise Counsellor (Isaiah 9:6, Good News Bible)
The final sign, according to Mugarura, concerns the meaning of his first name, Alfred.
He said he discovered in 2025 that Alfred means “wise counsellor”.
He then connected this meaning to Isaiah 9:6 in the Good News Bible, which describes the promised Messiah as a “Wonderful Counsellor”.
Mugarura said he believes the similarity between the two descriptions is significant and that the prophecy in Isaiah was pointing to his mission in the present generation.
He further explained that just as Jesus referred to the book of Isaiah during His ministry, he was also using the same scripture to explain what he believes God has revealed to him.
Mugarura Calls on Christians to Prepare for God’s Message
Concluding his presentation, Mugarura encouraged Christians to listen to God’s message and live according to His teachings.
Evangelist Mugarura said he does not yet know the full plan of what God intends to accomplish through him but believes that he will receive further instructions as time goes on.

Mugarura maintained that none of the 10 signs was deliberately created by him, arguing that his date of birth, the Bible he purchased, the experience involving his finger and the other events were beyond his control.
He concluded by saying that although the responsibility he believes God has given him is great, he trusts that God will help him accomplish it.
