Wazarendo SACCO Calls on Families of 60 Deceased Members in Kigezi to Claim Unclaimed Funds
Rukungiri: Wazarendo SACCO (WSACCO), a cooperative society under the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs (MODVA) and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), is calling on families of 60 deceased members from the Kigezi Subregion to come forward and claim unclaimed funds.
The affected members come from all districts within Kigezi, including Rubanda, Kanungu, Rukungiri, Kabale, Rukiga, and Kisoro.
Speaking to our reporter on December 12, at the Rukungiri District Headquarters during an engagement meeting with local SACCO leaders, Lt. Col. Julius Herbert Niragire, the Head of Operations at Wazarendo SACCO, said the unclaimed funds belong to security officers who had savings with the SACCO but died before their families could claim them.
He explained that Wazarendo SACCO has compiled a full list of these deceased officers and is urging their families to visit the Resident District Commissioners’ (RDCs) offices in their respective districts for verification and processing of the claims.
Lt. Col. Niragire noted that although the SACCO will not disclose the exact amount of money left on each account, they have all the necessary details, including the identities of the next of kin and their areas of residence, to guide the verification process.
