Two dead in Ntungamo road accident
Ntungamo: Police in Ntungamo district on Tuesday 30th January 2024 registered a fatal accident that claimed lives of two males in the age bracket of 26 to 27.
The accident happened at around 02:15 pm at Karambi trading centre off Ntungamo municipality about 2 and a half kilometers along Ntungmo-Mirama hills road.
Dawson Kamuhanda, a resident of Keijengye cell, Kitembe parish Nyarutuntu sub-county who was at the scene when the accident happened identified the deceased as Amos Mugisha alias Kashokye, a resident of Bijaaba II Karambi parish Nyarutuntu sub county who was riding motorcycle and one Collins, a student at Nyarutuntu nursing training institute Ntungamo, but hailing from Kanungu district who was heading to Ntungamo town to deposit tuition fees.
Kamuhanda added that the accident happened when the motorcycle rider, riding Bajaj Boxer reg no UFY 772/N rammed into a Toyota primo reg no UBJ 279/ B that was coming from Ntungamo Municipality.
It is further said the motorcycle rider was overtaking another car both heading to Ntungamo municipality direction. The eye witness indicated that both the rider and the passenger in the process went went off their lane and rammed into a Toyota Primo that ended their lives on spot.
Police confirmed the incident and promised to issue the full statement after the autopsy.
The principal of Nyarutuntu nursing training institute Ntungamo, Wilber Tukamuhabwa did not pick our repeated calls to comment on the matter.
