Rukungiri Welder Electrocuted to Death During Work.

Rukungiri: A 29-year-old man in Rukungiri district has died after being electrocuted while on duty.

The deceased identified as Isaac Akampurirawho hails from Nyarushanje sub-county was renting in Rwabuteneka cell, Kagashe ward, Eastern division Rukungiri Municipality.

The tragic incident occurred on November 28, as Akampurira was welding balcony shades on a building under construction along Republic Road in Rukungiri town.

He had been employed at Kahonaho Welding Workshop for over 12 years, which was contracted to work on the Crenios building, popularly known as Omufumu. Eyewitnesses allege that a fault in the wiring of the welding machine he was using may have caused the electrocution.

Akampurira was rushed to Quality Clinic in Rukungiri town while in critical condition but was later referred to Nyakibale Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead before arrival.

Speaking to our reporter, Emmanuel Magara, a relative and local businessman in Rukungiri Municipality, confirmed the incident. He noted that Akampurira had been a dedicated worker at Kahonaho Welding Workshop, located opposite Total Petrol Station in Rwabanyambo.

Authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the accident. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
