Rukungiri road crushes claim 5 lives in August-Police.

Rukungiri: At least 5 people have died and 9 sustained injuries in road accidents in August 2023, the Rukungiri district police commander has revealed.

While interacting with our reporter in his office SSP Musa Tibakirana
indicated that 5 accidents were fatal claiming 3 drivers and 2 pedestrians, 6 were serious and 3 were minor.

Tibakirana attributes the above accidents to reckless driving by some drivers, over speeding, driving vehicles in poor mechanical conditions, driving while drunk among others.

Tibakirana advised drivers, motorists and cyclists to reduce the speed while on the road mostly in this rainy season as roads become slippery.

He emphasised the use of the road signs by all the road users.
