Rukungiri RDC Warns Parish Chiefs and SACCO Leaders Against Corruption in PDM Funds
Rukungiri: Parish Chiefs and SACCO leaders in Rukungiri District have been urged to use Parish Development Model (PDM) funds effectively and regularly for the benefit of the people.
This call was made September 3, by Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Bron Kikanshemeza during a PDM workshop held at the district council hall, Rukungiri District headquarters.
Kikanshemeza said the meeting aimed at training Parish Chiefs, SACCO leaders, Sub-county Chiefs, local government leaders, and extension workers on proper management and utilization of PDM funds.
He revealed that some Parish Chiefs and SACCO leaders have been accused of soliciting bribes from residents, demanding up to Shs100,000 before beneficiaries can access funds. He reminded them that PDM money is a revolving loan meant to support households and should not be misused.
The RDC warned that any leader found extorting money from beneficiaries will face severe consequences, including arrest and prosecution. He further urged the public to report corruption cases with evidence so that culprits are held accountable.

He advised Parish Chiefs and SACCO leaders to remain open-minded, consider different perspectives, and engage communities in creating new opportunities for development.
